First Avenue and Sixth Street
Charlestown Navy Yard, MA
Please join Dale Rogers, artist and creator of the "The Big Dog Show" exhibition, and Mike Manning, chair of the Friends of the Boston Harborwalk, for a discussion of public art as we tour the Harborwalk in Charlestown. The "Big Dog Show" exhibition will be leaving Boston the following day on Wednesday, September 12th.
"Big Dog Show" was brought to the Charlestown Navy Yard by the Navy Yard Garden Association and its members.
Please plan to meet at the Drydock #2 where the two "kissing" dogs from the exhibition have been located all summer (near the intersection of First Avenue and Sixth Street) at 6:00 pm. We will make our way to the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and end the tour at the sculpture on the side of the hospital on 16th Street (at approximately 7:00 pm).
Dale Rogers has exhibited his steel sculptures in 49 states. He has a strong belief in the importance of public art that is accessible to all and is happy to answer any questions that may come up about exhibiting art and working with communities.
