Bridge of Joy Grand Opening Announced

Mark your calendars — the Bridge of Joy Grand Opening is happening August 6, 2025!

Join us in celebrating the arrival of three large-scale bronze sculptures by internationally acclaimed artists Gillie and Marc, soon to be installed across Charlestown. The project is presented by Navy Yard Garden & Art, Inc. with generous support from the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture, alongside local civic and community partners.

Opening festivities begin at The Anchor at 5:30pm, with remarks and an introduction by the artists. Afterward, guests are encouraged to walk to each sculpture and enjoy family-friendly activities along the route — including face painting, airbrush tattoos, food trucks, ice cream, personalized poems, and a photo contest with a prize from the artists.

This public art installation is designed to connect both sides of the Tobin Bridge, long seen as a dividing line in the neighborhood. The sculptures — whimsical, joyful, and deeply symbolic — aim to spark imagination and bring Charlestown together through shared public space.
