Welcoming Our New Board Members: Elizabeth Cashin & Alison Kelly

In February 2025, following a unanimous vote by the board, Elizabeth Cashin and Alison Kelly were officially welcomed as the newest directors of Navy Yard Garden & Art. Both are Charlestown residents who bring a love of public spaces, strong professional expertise, and a shared enthusiasm for art and community connection.

Elizabeth Cashin, Navy Yard Garden & Art Board Member

Elizabeth Cashin has lived in the Navy Yard for the past eight years with her husband and their mini goldendoodle, Remi. She works in marketing at a major financial firm, where she focuses on helping women feel more confident about investing and building their futures. A longtime admirer of NYGA’s work, Elizabeth joined the board as a way to give back to a neighborhood she deeply values.

Her favorite past installation is The Big Dog Show, which was on display when she first moved to the area. She describes the Navy Yard as a “special little corner of Boston,” and brings a thoughtful, creative lens to every conversation about how to make it even more welcoming and inspiring.

Alison Kelly, Navy Yard Garden & Art Board Member

Alison Kelly has lived in Charlestown since 2021 and was drawn to the neighborhood’s blend of history, natural beauty, and walkable access to the waterfront. She leads digital product strategy at a global travel company, helping build the technology that powers group travel. She values getting to help people experience the world and connect with new places, cultures, and moments that stay with them.

A longtime gardening and public art enthusiast, Alison joined the board to combine her interests in creativity, placemaking, and community connection. Her favorite local spots include the quieter stretches of the Harborwalk in the Navy Yard, especially the piers between Spaulding and Dry Dock 2, which offer room to wander and reflect. She often captures her favorite city walks and explorations on Instagram at @ali_fromboston.

Together, Elizabeth and Alison are working on their first major board project: the launch of Bridge of Joy.

Arriving in August 2025, Bridge of Joy will feature large-scale bronze sculptures by artists Gillie and Marc. Designed to bring something playful and community-rooted to the Navy Yard, the installation reconnects spaces once divided by the Tobin Bridge and invites people to explore with fresh eyes.

We’re thrilled to have Elizabeth and Alison on board as directors, contributing to the future of public art, green space, and community connection in the Navy Yard.
