Come Sit Awhile!

Donna and Bob McKittrick getting down to business

Twenty new Adirondack chairs are now installed on the lawn in Shipyard Park in the Navy Yard. Neighbors and hearty volunteers Bob and Donna McKittrick assembled the most recent batch of ten chairs.

Is there a better spot in Boston for enjoying the skyline views?

The chairs were purchased with support from the BPDA (Boston Planning and Development Agency) as part of the Navy Yard Garden & Art's mission to enhance and revitalize public spaces in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Overlooking the Boston skyline, the lawn is a favorite spot for neighbors and visitors to sit for a while enjoying the view, reading a book, relaxing in the sunshine or waiting for the Charlestown- Long Wharf ferry. After asking for dinner recommendations, an enthusiastic chair-user commented: "We are visiting from Switzerland and the view is beautiful." The Swiss know their beautiful views, so that is saying a lot!

A local resident commented, “These chairs are fire.”
